SWELL IS A SUBTLE WAVE OF MOTION -- A SLOW EXPANSION OF MATTER, COLOR AND LINE. Green and grayish layers blend into a graphic drawing reminiscent of sea flowers or leaves open in the wind. The tapestry is woven by hand while adhering to a delicate sculptural texture, with the emphasis of flow lines and transitions between open and close. The composition remains fluid -- but accurate. Gadi Carmel's design was born out of observing the moment when nature breathes -- and spreads.
