ANTIWOLA WAS CREATED OUT OF TRAFFIC — NOT THE ONE ON THE ROADS, BUT THE ONE BELOW THE SURFACE. Layers meander in a sandstone hue, curve and break softly, like a topographical map of urban feeling. The thin white line is carved as a response -- to clutter, to noise, to laws. He insists on moving without linear logic, like a body that refuses to stick to a grid. The rug is hand-woven from only natural materials, in techniques that allow for depth and texture changes that feel like bodily movement. ANTIWOLA DOES NOT SEEK TO IMPRESS — BUT TO INFLUENCE. He is quietly present, fashioning a space out of formative liberty. An internal route, which does not pass through any intersection — only a road. Gadi Carmel's design was born out of listening to what happens when we stop walking in straight lines.
